Scroll

The Essence

It unfolds in three acts.

  1. Top

    The first second

Cold air before a storm. Bergamot left to darken on the branch, cracked pepper, and a trace of smoke from somewhere you cannot see.

    • Black bergamot
    • Pink pepper
    • Cold smoke
  2. Heart

    The long minute

The room settles. Iris, powdery and grey, opens over a tea steeped far too long. It stays close to the skin and asks you to lean in.

    • Iris absolute
    • Black tea
    • Labdanum
  3. Base

    The hour after

What is left when everyone has gone. Amber taken past sweetness to the edge of burning, resting on oud and warm volcanic stone.

    • Burnt amber
    • Oud resin
    • Obsidian accord

The Craft

Obsidian is what happens when lava cools too quickly to crystallise. We wanted a perfume that behaves the same way: dark, glassy, and caught in the moment before it settles.

The bottle standing in a dark chamber between two vertical blades of golden light.

The house began with a single question and no storefront: how little can a perfume say and still be remembered? Nº 01 took the idea to its limit, with one formula, one bottle and one colour.

Everything around the liquid was then taken away until only three materials remained. Open each one to see why it stayed.

The glassSmoked until the liquid disappears.

The walls are tinted so that the perfume reads as a shadow rather than a colour. Only the thick clear base catches the light, and it is the first thing you notice when the bottle is set down.

The capBrushed by hand, in one direction.

A single cylinder of champagne metal, brushed vertically so that a reflection travels up it as you lift it. It is heavier than it looks, and it closes with almost no sound.

The labelBlack on black, on both sides.

Four letters on the front, in a soft metallic ink. Nothing on the back at all. Every list of ingredients and every line of explanation has been moved to the card inside the box.

Philosophy

Luxury is not the addition of more. It is the courage to leave the label blank.
